About
Forest Fire is a zine celebrating the romantic relationship between Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju. HashiMada is used interchangeably with MadaHashi for our project and both dynamics will be accepted.Our focus will be on canon or canon alternate universe (AU) content. This includes any works set within the Naruto world. They can be fix-its, what-ifs, canon ending, set in modern Konoha, etc. Angst, fluff, anything in between will be allowed. We will not be accepting fantasy AUs, sci-fi AUs, modern AUs, etc. for this project.We will have both physical and digital zine options along with merch.
Rules
You must be 18+ to apply.
No AI art/writing.
You must have a Discord for communication or have an exception from Head Mod Mari. Reach out to her during the application stage to secure one.
You do not need any previous zine experience to apply. You will be evaluated on your submitted works alone.
Be respectful to other contributors. We allow both HashiMada/MadaHashi works. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of these characters.
No misogyny, racism, homophobia, ableism, etc. in our project.
Mods reserve the right to remove contributors at any time if they break the rules.

What is a zine?
A zine is defined as an anthology of creative content, collected in a single book and centered around a given theme. This zine welcomes artists, writers, and merch artists to celebrate the relationship between Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha.Who can contribute?

*Writers: 3 writing samples up to 3K each. One must be HashiMada.
*Artists: At least 3 completed pieces. At least one highly preferred to be Naruto or HashiMada.
*Merch Artists: At least 3 completed art pieces. One must be a merch item (it does not have to have been made, only designed). Does not need to be Naruto or HashiMada.How many contributors will be accepted?
While final numbers may vary based on the interest check and applications, we aim to accept 20 artists, 10 writers, and 5 merch artists. These numbers may include guests.I got accepted into the zine! Can I post my work when I finish it?

Yes. Specifics will depend on the interest check but will probably include stickers, prints, and a wooden item.Do you ship to Russia?
Yes, for the past two years our Head Mod has been able to ship packages into Russia, however it is very expensive. To cut down on shipping costs all Russian packages will be sent to a Russian distributor and then sent out domestically. The same distributor has been used for the last two years and has prior experience with shipping and zines. Please contact us if you have further questions.Will this zine be for-profit, for-charity, or pay-for-production (P4P)?
We are deciding between for-charity and a P4P model. The results will be announced at the end of our interest check.How will contributors be compensated?

This zine is rated up to Mature by AO3 guidelines. Explicit sex scenes will not be written/drawn, but mature content may be depicted in some work. Specifics will depend on individual creators.Why the name Forest Fire? Does this mean the zine will be pure angst/canon ending?
We chose the name Forest Fire because it represents both a force of destruction and a potential for rebirth and that fits the HashiMada relationship exceptionally well. However, this doesn't mean the zine will be purely angst or only have canon ending works, that's up to the individual contributors.What kind of art/stories will be in the zine?
Our zine will be a canon/canon AU zine. This means we allow any kind of non-explicit content (fluff, angst, etc.) that's set in the Naruto world. The works can be fix-its, canon, speculative, modern/ancient Konoha, etc. We will not be accepting pure fantasy AUs, sci-fi AUs, modern AUs, etc. that are removed from the Naruto universe.Is this zine HashiMada or MadaHashi?
Both! Explicit sex scenes will not be included in the zine, but everyone's personal interpretation of Hashirama and Madara's relationship is welcome.Will other ships be allowed?
The main focus of any piece should be on Madara and Hashirama, but other ships can be included in the background. No OT3/poly relationships with Hashirama and Madara are allowed for this zine.

I love the HashiMada parallels: a god and a ghost, human at their cores but stripped of their humanity in different ways. Their relationship defined them through every stage of their lives and I love how they still cared about each until the very end.
I considered Madara a gift from the divine.

I like HashiMada because of how profound their lore and tragic story is (everyone wished the whole manga was about them, and if they didn't, they lied.)
